Internship Secondary 1

INTERNSHIPS
& SUCCESS.

Michael Hyde II

Electrical Engineering Student

Writing code. Building circuits. Creating a receiver from various components. These are just a few of the activities Michael has done in Ferris’ Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology program.

Today, he’s translating those skills into real-world experience at Bandit Industries in Winn, Michigan – one of the largest global manufacturers for wood and waste processing equipment. There, as an intern, he’ll be programming controllers for the machines the company produces for tree care, recycling, and renewable energy markets.

Katie Mavis

Television and Digital Media Student

Internship 2

Being that the TV and Media program’s internship placement rate is 100 percent, Katie had no trouble finding one at Harvard University as a Video Producer for the 2016–2017 school year. There, she’ll be working game-day production for sports that are streamed live.

“I’ll be in charge of directing and producing, and also assisting students with their crew positions on game days,” she says. “I also will be creating video features on the different teams and athletes at Harvard.”

Leah Cossin

Biotechnology Student

Internship 3

Biotechnology students have many opportunities for internships, but as Leah Cossin says, “A lot of different opportunities are right here on campus.” At Ferris State University, Leah assists with research, looking at metabolites she’s interested in knowing more about.

“It makes it nice for me because I can better my career right here,” she says. In class and in her research, Leah takes pride in the fact that she’s learning how something she’s passionate about can impact humanity and help people someday.

Kaila Parent

Graphic Design Student

Internship 4

Kaila has a passion for the user experience – the way a design makes sense for the person interacting with it. After a few years in the Graphic Design program, one of Kaila’s professors helped her land at a design studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan – Peopledesign.

There, Kaila was involved in a variety of projects. She saw firsthand how what she was learning at Ferris translated to what’s happening in the real world – and that gave her a world of confidence.
